Joining Council 1214 Knights of Columbus
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practical Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practical Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church. Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus or at Saint Joseph and Holy Family.
A candidate takes part in an initiation ceremony that explains the Knights of Columbus' four principles: Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.
All priests and religious brothers having duly made application for membership and participated in the ceremonials become honorary life members of the Order and are excempt from payment of dues.

Becoming a Knight
A candidate is considered a "Knight" after taking his First Degree, but he is encouraged to advance throug the Second and Third Degrees. The Fourth Degree members promote the virtue of patriotism by serving in honor guards, color corps and promoting respect for country and the flag.
Initiation cost are fairly modest for candidates. You pay a one time $15 initial fee, (candidates under 26 pay $10). After completing the third degree you and your spouse or friend attend a banquet in your honor. Dues for the council 1214 are prorated from the month you join into the end of the year. Yearly dues are $30, (insurance members under 26 pay $15).
